Terms and Conditions of Business of the GWI Verwaltungsgesellschaft UG (haftungsbeschränkt) on behalf of ISQOLS

1. Definitions, Scope of Application
1.1 The GWI Verwaltungsgesellschaft für Wissenschaftspolitik und Infrastrukturentwicklung Berlin UG (haftungsbeschränkt) is temporarily charged with the conduct of affairs of the International Society of Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS).

1.2. The International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies is a tax exempt (Tax ID: 54-1798201) Virginia Non-Profit, Non-Stock Corporation, located in 1800 Kraft Drive, Suite 111, Blacksburg, VA 24061-0236, USA.

1.3 Any terms of business laid down by the Customer which diverge from these T&C shall not apply. Any confirmation from the Customer that is based on the latter’s own terms of business is expressly refuted. The Customer’s terms of business shall not become an integral part of any agreements unless ISQOLS has expressly confirmed same in writing.

2. Performance
2.1 ISQOLS offers memberships and journals for sale in the Online Shop. The specific items and prices can be gathered from the details provided in each case at the Online Shop.

3. Use of the Online Shop
3.1 Customers wanting to place orders at the online shop must register to use the online shop.

3.2 At all times, basic requirements for registering are that the Customer is of age and that he or she has full legal capacity.

3.3 The personal data requested during registration must be given correctly. In particular, the Customer may not enter any third-party data and in the event of any changes shall be under obligation to immediately update his or her personal particulars in the Online Shop.

3.4 On sending off the completed registration form, the Customer submits a proposal to conclude an agreement on accessing and using the Online Shop. The Customer is then sent a confirmatory eMail containing his or her personal access data and his or her order. This confirmatory eMail constitutes ISQOLS acceptance of the Customer’s proposal. An agreement on use for the Online Shop is thus brought about.

4. Payment
For the customers convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, checks (U.S. banks only) and bank transfer. Funds may be transferred as follows:

5. Membership and Subscription Periods
5.1 Basically effective are the conditions of ISQOLS bylaws (http://www.isqols.org/about-isqols/isqols-bylaws/)

5.2 ISQOLS membership period runs one calendar year from January 1st to December 31st. They are not automatically renewed if the Customer fails to actively give notice

5.3 The various subscriptions for books, magazines journals and other print products are always for a specific period. The subscription periods runs one calendar year from January 1st to December 31st. They are not automatically renewed if the Customer fails to actively give notice. Nonetheless, both parties reserve the right to terminate a subscription with immediate effect for important cause. Notification of any such termination must be issued in writing.

6. Terms of Delivery for Print Products
For Books, magazines, journals and other print products Terms and Conditions of our external business partner SPRINGER (http://www.springer.com/generic/terms?SGWID=0-40112-0-0-0) and Duke University (http://www.soc.duke.edu/resources/sinet/index.html) are applicable.

7. Cancellation, Return and Refund
Both parties reserve the right to terminate a membership or a journal subscription with immediate effect for important cause. Notification of any such termination must be issued in writing. Paid fees / subscription costs are non-refundable.

8. Data Protection
ISQOLS attaches great importance to the protection and safety of the Customer’s personal data. All the relevant information is contained in ISQOLS Privacy Policy as revised at the time.

9. Miscellaneous
If any provision of these Standard Terms & Conditions of Business is ineffective, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions. In any such case, the parties shall negotiate an agreement on a clause to substitute the ineffective provision and that reflects the con-tent of the original provision as closely as possible.
