The 25th Annual Conference of the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies

“Quality-of-Life From Aristotle to the Present”

23–27 August 2027 • Athens, Greece

Panteion University / KEPE

A global meeting for research, practice, policy, and interdisciplinary dialogue on quality of life, happiness, well-being, and human flourishing.

Quality-of-Life: An Ancient Question, a Contemporary Global Challenge

The International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS) invites scholars, practitioners, policymakers, students, and partners from around the world to Athens at the Panteion University / KEPE for its 2027 Annual Conference, “Quality-of-Life From Aristotle to the Present.”

More than two thousand years ago, Aristotle placed eudaimonia (human flourishing and what it means to live well) at the centre of philosophical inquiry. Today, the question remains as important as ever. What constitutes a good life? How should we measure it? Why do some individuals and communities flourish while others do not? And how can our growing knowledge of quality-of-life be translated into better societies and better policy?

Against the historic backdrop of Athens, the 2027 ISQOLS Conference will bring these enduring questions into conversation with contemporary quality-of-life research. We particularly welcome contributions that look backward to the philosophical and intellectual foundations of flourishing; outward to the ways quality-of-life is understood and experienced across countries, cultures, communities, and disciplines; and forward to new questions, methods, data, technologies, and policy challenges. Participants will also have opportunities to meet colleagues, develop collaborations, and learn across career stages, including through sessions that connect early-career researchers with established scholars.

True to the foundations of ISQOLS, the conference is intentionally multidisciplinary, including, but not limited to, economics, psychology, public health, philosophy, sociology, political science, environmental studies, urban studies, data science, and related fields. We equally welcome practitioners, policymakers, international organisations and institutions working to translate quality-of-life research into meaningful improvements in people's lives.

ISQOLS invites universities, research institutes, professional associations, NGOs, government agencies, international organizations, journals, networks, and other organizations working in quality of life, happiness, well-being, and related fields to join the ISQOLS 2027 Partner Organization Program. Organizations can participate in the way that best fits their interests and resources. Learn more
