Supporting the Next Generation of Quality-of-Life Researchers to attend the ISQOLS 2027 Summer School (TBD, pre-conference) and 25th Annual Conference of the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies 23–27 August 2027 | Athens, Greece Panteion University / KEPE

Move the Plane to Athens: 10 Scholars, One Destination!

The International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS) is pleased to announce the 2027 Move the Plane Education Grant Program, an initiative designed to help emerging scholars from developing countries participate in the ISQOLS 2027 Annual Conference in Athens, Greece.

Through our Move the Plane fundraising campaign, ISQOLS aims to raise $20,000 USD to support conference registration and travel expenses for 10 student scholars from developing countries.

For many promising young researchers, the cost of international travel and conference participation presents a significant barrier to professional development. The Move the Plane campaign seeks to reduce these barriers and create opportunities for emerging scholars to share their research, build international networks, and engage with the global quality-of-life research community.

Our goal is simple: Help 10 scholars make the journey to Athens in 2027!

What Does the Education Grant Include?

Selected recipients may receive:

  • Complimentary ISQOLS 2027 Annual Conference registration, providing access to conference sessions, presentations, and networking opportunities.

  • Travel stipends to help offset the costs of attending the ISQOLS 2027 summer school (TBD) and conference in Athens, Greece.

Travel stipends will be determined based on available funding, applicants' geographic locations, demonstrated financial need, and anticipated travel expenses.

ISQOLS hopes to support 10 student scholars through this initiative. The final number of awards and amount of financial assistance will depend on funds raised through the Move the Plane campaign and other available resources.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

Applications are welcome from students and early-career researchers working in quality-of-life studies, happiness, well-being, and related fields.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  1. Be a student or early-career researcher, from doctoral student through the early untenured career stage.

  2. Have submitted an abstract for an oral or poster presentation at the ISQOLS 2027 Annual Conference.

  3. Demonstrate a need for financial assistance to participate in the conference.

Selection Priorities

As the Move the Plane campaign is specifically designed to expand opportunities for scholars facing financial and geographic barriers, priority will be given to:

  • Students and emerging scholars from developing countries, particularly those with limited access to institutional travel funding.

  • Active ISQOLS student members from developing countries.

  • Applicants demonstrating significant financial need.

  • Applicants whose submitted research contributions demonstrate academic merit and relevance to quality-of-life studies.

Applicants from all countries who meet the eligibility requirements are welcome to apply. However, the primary objective of the Move the Plane campaign is to support student scholars from developing countries.
